Forward 2 years to February 2012

Here I am again blogging! Not much has changed in my life. The kids are older and I get to sleep through most nights now. Work is about the same. I still long for a "girls night out". I miss my old friendships. My days consist of work and family. Sometimes I feel a little lost because the only sense of direction is raising my kids or getting my job done at work. I know the pressure of raising the kids has an effect on my marriage which I think is very frustrating for both my husband and I. I get lost in knowing how I am supposed to be.

A bunch of sicko's

Well this past week has been challenging. Gary was sick about 2 weeks ago and then Nathan and Evan got hit with a cold on Sunday. Nathan got through it just fine (which he always has) except for one night of teething. I think his molars are coming in. Evan on the other hand has had it the roughest. It's been a week and 2 doctor appointments and he is still coughing etc. Poor little man. To top it off I caught the cold as well. So, on our anniversary weekend all plans were canceled and all of us were housebound for 3 days! We all were going a little stir crazy.

I hope that this will be the last week of the cold and it doesn't get passed around again!

Hopefully our daily routine will kick back in to gear and things will get back to some sense of normal.

Some things to look forward too... The sun is shining. Nathan loves being outside so I am really looking forward to summer and being able to take him out do lots of fun stuff! Gary's bday is in about a month then Nathans and mine and then Evans. Lot's of fun ahead and time is flying by!

Girls night out...

I have been talking a lot about wanting a girls night out. It has been so long since I've had the opportunity to spend time with women my age with out having a kid or a husband around. I miss being able to go out with a large group of friends and just relax. I can't even remember when the last time I did that was. I know it was long before I was even married. I go out often with a friend here and there but I have never really planned anything that involves all of my friends. Most of my friends don't even know my other friends etc. It is strange to have so many friends and speak to one friend about another and they have no clue who I'm talking about for the most part. I found this out when I had my sons first birthday and invited a few of my friends and found that no one had anything in common other than having kids and knowing me. It was a little strange. I notice more of this using Facebook as a networking site for friends. I've reconnected with a lot of great friends from high school and remember when we used to hang out in large groups and it was always so much fun because everyone was so different. I look forward to doing that again soon.

I am looking forward to visiting with Joyce this month when she comes to town to visit and hope a few of us can get together and have a great night out!

another year full of memories

Well, December has come and gone and I find myself in January 2010!! Who would have thought?! So much has happend over the past few years I thought 2010 might be somewhat uneventful. Now i'm not so sure. So stay tuned and see what might happen.

I feel as if I have been lagging with taking photo's of the boys and keeping track of their milestones. Evan is getting so big. He turned 6 months old this month and Nathan is only 4 months shy of turning two! He is turning into such a little man with a mind of his own. I love it. He makes me smile and laugh at the silliest things. My children are such a belssing because they allow me to act like a kid again. Gary and I are very lucky to have two happy healthy boys that are just learning and exploring all the possibilites in life. Who knows what 2010 will hold for them! My goal for 2010 is to be there for them as much as possible and try to introduce as many experiences as I can, for Gary and I to show them how much we love one another and how much we love them.

I hope to write more often and share more photo's this year so my boys will have something to read as they get older, but more than that I want to keep track of what we are doing as a family so that I can look back and see how much we will change over the years.

Here's to 2010 and enjoying the year w/o being pregnant!! :)

Be careful what you wish for

Four months has come and gone. It was a blessing being able to stay at home and watch both my boys on a daily basis. There were days when I wished I could go to work just to get a break and now that I am back at work all I wish is to be home with my sons. I am blessed to have family who is able to watch them while I am at work. It makes me feel more comfort vs. having them in a daycare. However, I feel like I am letting them down by not being there for them 24/7. The struggles of being a mother and choosing/having to work. In some ways the boys will be better off by having a great relationship with their Grandmother and Nana. Also, the time we spend will be more quality time vs. quantity time with not so much quality. Plus they will build a strong relationship with their father because he will have one on one time with them when he gets home from work until I get home.

I am definitely cherishing my time with my boys more than ever.

Time = Change

In the blink of an eye I became a wife and then the mother of two wonderful boys. Now that it isn't just me anymore it seems as if time passes by so quickly. I find that I rarely stop all the running around to enjoy that I am married. With two boys only 15 months apart I find that everything I do is for them. My husband and I are getting lost in the daily routines and planning ahead. I am a planner I feel more in control if I know what is going on. It drives my husband nuts and yet he is more than happy to let me take care of things. I say I want him to take over some of the responsibilities but then I complain about how he goes about it. This is something I am working on. My mother says it is hereditary. Each day is a challenge. Relationships take work and when you have kids that means taking more time to do the work. I am commited to doing the work and making the time. I want to make sure we put our family first before work, friends and even extended family. Stop and take the time to enjoy the little things. Something as silly as trying to go to the bathroom and Nathan keeps pushing the door open, which could be annoying but instead it cracks him up because I pretend he scared me while sitting on the toilet. Even after the 10th time his giggle had me laughing. Another favorite moment today is when Gary was holding Evan and I look over and see Evan so close to a full on giggle for the first time because his daddy is making goofy noises to entertain him. I could have missed that because I was to wrapped up in getting laundry done but I slowed down and didn't miss that important moment. Again, I am commited to slowing down and doing the work to enjoy life so that my husband and my kids will enjoy it too.
